IN LOVING MEMORY

Whit Whitaker

Jul 29 1930 - Nov 18 2008

Whit Whitaker was a devoted family man and was well-known as a man of his word, who valued truth and honesty. He taught those who love and knew him the love of God and appreciation of family. He lived his life with integrity, loyalty, honor, and patriotism. He took pleasure in and valued the simple things. He was born Claude Donald to Clarence and Lois (Lollar) Whitaker and was reared and educated in West Texas. He was a graduate of North Texas State University (now the University of North Texas) and a navy veteran having served in the Korean War. He made his home in Allen, Texas for the past 43 years. Whit was an avid reader and world-traveler. He was a “jack of all trades”-From being a founder, director, CEO of the First National Bank of Allen to raising cattle; from being Director of Internal Auditing for Pepsicio Inc. to being a counter of tithes and offerings for the First Baptist Church of Allen; from selling furniture to cooking meals; from laying pipe lines to studying Spanish and Japanese languages; from reading poetry to making out income tax returns; from sewing buttons to mending broken hearts. Whit was a problem solver and a straight shooter. Whit is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Sue Dunagin. They shared a long, productive, and happy marriage. They were blessed with one daughter, Susan Henderson, and husband, Bob of Joshua; two sons, Stephen and wife, LaNell of Olton and Scott and wife, Sharon of Grand Prairie. These children were loved and valued by their parents. Eight grandchildren came to bless Whit and he loved and enjoyed them immensely-Whit, Will, Mikala, Austin, Bradon, Colton Whitaker and Whitney and Garrett Henderson. He had one sister, Martha Stanford and husband, Wayne of Richardson. Whit was much loved and will be greatly missed. Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, November 21, at the First Baptist Church of Allen, Texas. Visitation will be Thursday evening, November 20, 6 PM to 8 PM at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Allen Cemetery.
