Welton “Del” Odell Bryant, Jr., 81, of McKinney, TX passed away 5:38 a.m., Monday, August 24, 2015, due to Alzheimer's. He was born September 9, 1933, to Welton Odell Bryant, Sr. and Mary Frances (Cockerham) Bryant in Garvin, OK.
Del served his country proudly in the United States Army at Ft. Sill in Lawton, OK. He then earned a basketball scholarship to OSU in Stillwater, OK. After graduating, he went to work for Ford Motor Credit Company for twenty-five years. After his retirement, he purchased Bryant Ford in Enid, OK. After the dealership was sold, Del and his son Keith opened Bryant Car Sales in Plano, TX which continues to thrive today. He attended First Baptist Church of Wylie, TX.
Del was an avid golfer and marshalled at Ridgeview Ranch Golf Course. He played basketball and was an amazing pool shark on campus.
He is survived by his girlfriend, Trish Rushing; brother, Gene and wife, Lynn Bryant and sister, Sheila Thomas. Del was a beloved father to his two daughters, Pam Casey and her husband Jim, and Dana Bryant;his son, Keith Bryant and his wife, Linda. He was a proud grandfather to Jerrod Housour, Justin Housour, Nick Patton, Brianna Patton and Hunter Bryant. Del was blessed with two beautiful great-grandchildren, Travis Dean Housour and Emma Kate Housour.
Del was preceded in death by his father, Welton Odell Bryant, Sr.;his mother, Mary Frances (Cockerham) Bryant; previous wife and mother of his children, Norma Jean Bryant and his brother, Max Bryant.
Viewing will be held from 9:30-10:00 a.m., with visitation with the family (closed casket) from 10:00-11:00 a.m. and funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Wylie, 200 N Ballard Avenue, Wylie, Texas 75098. Interment will immediately follow the service at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North in Allen, TX 75013 (adjacent to Turrentine- Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home).
