Wanda Warren Hughes

Wanda Warren Hughes, age 89, currently of McKinney, Texas, formerly of Pecos, Texas passed away April 24, 2012. She was born August 24, 1922 in Pioneer, Texas to Ira Ellis Warren and Etta (Brown) Warren. On November 20, 1943 she married Marvin “Crawford” Hughes in Baird, Texas.  Wanda was a homemaker and also had worked part-time for Norma Jeans Children’s Store and for her husband’s business, Crawford-Hughes Insurance Agency in Pecos, Texas.  Wanda was a lifetime Methodist and was a member of First Methodist Church in Pecos, where she lived from 1948 to 2005.  From 2005 to 2010 she was a resident of Colonial Lodge in Greenville, Texas.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Hughes of Frisco, Texas; granddaughters, Leslie Pugh Palumbo and husband, Lewis of Atlanta, Georgia, Lisa Pugh Miller and husband, George of Dallas, Texas; great-grandchildren, Molly and Charlie Palumbo and Phoebe and George Miller, and sister-in-law, Vondell Warren of Lubbock, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Etta Warren; husband, Crawford Hughes; brothers, George and Gene Warren, and sister-in-law, Marian Warren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Fisher House Foundation (www.fisherhouse.org) which provides free and low cost housing for veterans receiving treatment or to Amity Hospice (amityhospice.com).

A memorial service to celebrate Wanda's life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday afternoon, May 11th, at the Pecos Funeral Home with a reception at the Pecos Valley Country Club following the service.
