Wallace Brunworth

Born on December 29, 1927 in Kansas City, passed away August 1, 2010, in Dallas, Texas. Wallace or “Wally,” as he was known to family and friends, graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City and attended Washington University and St. Louis University in St. Louis, MO. He served in the United States Army in Tokyo, Japan assisting with the occupation at the end of WWII. In 1947 Wally began a 38 year career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 1985 as Assistant Vice President of Planning and Operations. Over the course of his career he held various positions within the company in Missouri and Texas. In addition Wally proudly held numerous civic and community leadership roles. Wally was preceded in death by parents, James Ernest and Loma Brunworth; brother, Ernest Kimbrell Brunworth; and first wife, Joanne Frohoff Brunworth. He is survived by his wife, Carol Brunworth; daughters, Janis Brunworth of Dallas, TX and Charlotte Jones Dudley of Plano, TX; sons, Bill Brunworth of Redstone, CO, Russ and Steve Brunworth of Richardson, TX, and John David Walker of Shanghai, China; daughters-in-law, Laurie McNair Brunworth and Frances Brunworth; son-in-law, Jay Dudley; and grandchildren, Brandon, Caegan, Erin, Kendall, Bridget, Kylie, and Caroline. Wally was a warm and compassionate man with a wonderful “dry” sense of humor. He loved his family and friends, and cherished the good times he shared with them. He enjoyed playing golf and cards, action movies, and he always appreciated a good meal. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to thank Harris Hospice for their compassionate care. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 4, 2010, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
