W. A. Smith, age 81, of Blue Ridge, Texas, passed away June 24, 2011, in Blue Ridge, Texas. W. A. was born August 10, 1929, in Melissa, Texas, to Orville E. and Beulah (Jenkins) Smith. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and a member of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his sons, Roger L. Smith of Houston, Texas and Jerry Glenn Lord, Sr. of Blue Ridge, Texas; daughter, Tracy Gail Sons of Leonard, Texas; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; brothers, Guy Smith of Greenville, Texas, Robert Smith of Princeton, Texas, and Gary Smith of Leonard, Texas; and sister, Stella Richardson of Princeton, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Douglas Smith and Wayne Pearson, daughter, Paula Smith, brothers, Cletice Smith and Loyd Smith, and sister, Jean Hargrove. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Wilson Chapel Cemetery in McKinney, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday evening at the funeral home.
