W.E. Probst

W.E. Probst, age 92, of McKinney, Texas, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014 in McKinney, Texas.  He was born September 5, 1921 to Ernest August and Bernice (Kirkpatrick) Probst. W.E. married Charlotte Hurt on May 27, 1944 in Ballinger, Texas. He was a World War II veteran, serving for the Army Air Corps. W.E. worked as a Depot Agent for Burlington Northern Railroad Company where he retired after thirty years of service. After retirement W.E. and Charlotte began working on their family’s genealogical history. W.E. went on to write a book about the Probst family called “A Look at Days Gone By”. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in McKinney, Texas.

He is survived by his loving wife Charlotte Probst of McKinney, Texas; son, Randy Probst and wife Nancy of Melissa, Texas; daughters, Brenda Thibeault of Allen, Texas and Elaine Key of North Zulch, Texas; thirteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Wilma Dehnel of Tow, Texas; brother, Patrick Probst of Arlington, Texas; along with several nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Bernice Probst; grandson, Matthew Jeffries; sister Inez Sorrells; son-in-law, Bill Key.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held Friday evening beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
