W.A. Roper, age 72, of McKinney, Texas passed away September 23, 2007. He was born February 26, 1935, in Harlan County, Kentucky to Charles Ambers and Lanie (Ward) Roper. On August 18, 1956 he married Ruby Garza in McKinney, Texas. W.A. proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a member of Waddill Street Baptist Church in McKinney. He is survived by his wife Ruby Roper of McKinney; sons, Doug Roper and his wife, Kim of McKinney, Randy Roper and his wife, Casey of McKinney; daughters, Terry Searcy and her husband, John of McKinney, Kendra Burgess and her husband, Tony of Rocky Face, Georgia, Sandy Hardesty and her husband Don of McKinney, Wendy Biggs and her husband, Kenney of Allen; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Albert Roper and his wife, Mabel of Loyall, Kentucky, Frank Roper and his wife, Jeanette of Greenville; Jim Roper and his wife, Sharon of Greensboro, North Carolina, Roger Roper and his wife, Jan of Loyall, Kentucky; sisters, Elizabeth Farmer of Lexington, Kentucky and Lila Asher of Lexington, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by twelve siblings. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 27, 2007, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Harry Long officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
