Verda Lee Cowan Franklin

Verda Lee Cowan Franklin, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, late Saturday evening, April 13, 2013, during her 81st year.

Verda Lee was born February 1, 1932, the daughter of Zealous Owen and Mattie Lee Cowan of Prosper, Texas. She married Eddie Rae Franklin in 1950, and they were married for 50 years until his passing.

The family settled in Arlington and Eddie Rae and Verda both started careers with LTV. She retired in 1995 as an Executive Secretary after a 40 year career. Verda was one of the Founding Members of the Vought Retiree Club. She was such a wonderful and supportive mother, and a great friend to many. She loved spending time with her family. Verda touched many lives during her career and cultivated a huge community of friends.

Verda is survived by her son, Duyane Franklin from Mansfield, daughter Donna Lopez and her husband, John from Mansfield, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, sister, Margo Baxter from Prosper, and many other family members and nieces and nephews and their families.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Following the service, she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Eddie Rae, in the adjacent Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2013.
