IN LOVING MEMORY

Vera Ola Follis

Jun 14 1917 - Jan 20 2006

Mrs. Vera Ola Follis, 88, born June 14, 1917 in Aledo, Texas to parents, James and Dora Watson. She was the only sister to nine brothers. She married Robbie Lawrence Follis on September 2, 1933 in Texarkana, Arkansas. They lived in DeKalb, Ralls, and Odessa, Texas before moving to Hobbs, New Mexico in 1945. They raised four children. She was a gifted seamstress, artist, cook, and homemaker. In 1987, they moved to Denison, Texas to be near her daughter during her retirement years. The necessary move came in 1966 after losing much of her sight and her left leg from Diabetes. These handicaps did not slow Vera Down. She maintained a walking routine where she and Rob lived. She listened to books on tape, played trivial pursuit with residents, and watched television. Vera had a very sharp mind, never forgetting names, dates, or events from the past. Rob died in 2002 at the age of 92. They were married almost 69 years. Surviving relatives are her children and their spouses, Jerald and Nancy Follis of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Carla and Jerry McPeters of Dallas, Texas, and Dana Follis of Austin, Texas; grandchildren and their spouses, Terry and Carrie Follis of Dunwoody, Georgia, John and Kim of Dallas, Texas, Bradly and Shannan Follis of San Marcus, Texas; Jeff and Joni McPeters of Richardson, Texas, Angie and Phillip Worthen of Dallas, Texas, and Casey Follis of Austin, Texas; great-grandchildren and their spouses, Chandler and Chase Follis of Dunwoody, Connor and McKenzie Follis of Dallas, Randy Follis, Jr. of San Marcus, and David and Ali Worthen of Dallas; daughter-in-law, Jan Follis of Fredericksburg, Texas; and brother, Dean Watson of Novata, California. Her parents, her husband, her son, Randy, and eight brothers preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel.
