Vera Gere Courtney, age 90, of McKinney, Texas, passed away September 21, 2014. She was born October 7, 1923 in Fort Lewis, Washington, to Edwin Clement and Evalee Elizabeth (Moore) Gere. On September 15, 1951, Vera married Keith Clement Courtney in Los Angeles, California. She grew up the oldest of three children. Her father was in the military. Vera graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor degree in fine arts and interior design and was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Plano, Texas.
She is survived by her daughters, Janeen Fulle of McKinney, Texas and Lynne Wurts, M.D. of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Joel Adkins, Amy Adkins, Nathan Adkins, Jessica Bind and Jonathan Hendricks; great-grandson, Reed Nolan Richenberger.
Vera is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Evalee Gere; husband, Keith Clement Courtney; and two brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 4300 W. Park Blvd, Plano, Texas. Family and friends are invited to Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas, at their convenience on Wednesday to pay their respects and to sign the register book.
