Valtie Lorene Stanford

Valtie Lorene Parker Stanford was born January 30, 1926 in Vandervoort, Arkansas, to Clarence Ezekiel Parker and Nancy Ann Davis Parker. She was their only child. She passed away June 5, 2012 in Littleton, Colorado.

Val graduated as valedictorian from Vandervoort High School in 1944 and married Warren E. (Stan) Stanford on May 27, 1945 at Dierks, Arkansas after a whirlwind courtship of 3 days. They moved to Whitewright the following year, and their marriage lasted 65 years.

She enjoyed being with her family, cooking, sewing, crafts and was an accomplished artist creating many oil paintings. Val helped Stan with his hardware business and his Ford dealership in Whitewright, Texas. She was also the office manager for a medical practice in the Sherman area for 35 years. She was a member of Kentuckytown Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter and her husband, Nancy and Steve Laskey of Littleton, CO; grandchildren, Sharon Scheminske and husband Erick of Englewood, Colorado; Steven Christopher Laskey of Littleton, Colorado; and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Warren E. (Stan) Stanford.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Whitewright, Texas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Rodney Stanford. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright

Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Tuesday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 6-8pm at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas.
