Valerie Ann Lueke, age 71, of McKinney Texas passed away on June 21, 2011. She was born on April 23, 1940 in New York, New York to Joseph and Susan (Huba) Kutlik. Valerie was a very active grandma, a loving mother and aunt, and a devoted friend to many. She loved her grandchildren and travelled the world to see them and spend time with them. From an early age she loved traveling, which she did extensively, throughout her life. Even two months ago she was out with her grandchildren walking and fording streams in the beauty of a Washington State Park, or dancing with her granddaughter to pop songs on the radio. She was a wonderful dancer, a magnificent cook and always quick to laugh. Valerie grew up in Manhattan with her parents and three brothers, but had extended family in Slovakia, and she passed on much of her cultural identity (and recipes) to her children and grandchildren. She married Ernst Lueke, had three children and moved to Germany where she lived on two different occasions. Valerie settled in Texas in 1974 and other than a few years in New Jersey, has been living in the north Dallas area since. She attended Christ Fellowship Church in McKinney and Bible Study Fellowship and volunteered with vacation Bible School and other local organizations. Valerie loved the Lord, her friends and family well and was a beautiful example of faith and humility. Valerie is survived by her sons, Todd Lueke and his wife Rachel of Fairview, Texas and John Lueke and his wife Raeanna of Everson, Washington; daughter, Karen Stephen and husband Jonathan of Sydney, Australia; grandchildren, Chase and McKenna Lueke, Taylor, Kit and Bailey Stephen and Erik Lueke. She is also survived by her brothers Joe Kutlik and wife Elaine of New York, Edward Kutlik and wife Leslie of New Jersey, and Jerry Kutlik and his wife Carmen of Connecticut. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday June 27, 2011 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas.
