Troy Wilcox

Troy Wilcox, age 92, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on April 4, 2015.  He was born on September 23, 1922 in McKinney, Texas to George and Nettie (Morton) Wilcox. Troy graduated from Boyd High School in 1940. On April 4, 1942 he married Laura Alice Scalf in McKinney; they were married for sixty seven years when Laura passed away in 2009.

Troy retired from Mobil Oil Corp in 1981, after 32 years of service; the last years were spent as light products dispatcher for the southwest division, including Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and parts of Texas. He spent his spare time fishing, hunting, playing ball and cooking out with friends and family. Troy was happy working in his large vegetable garden as well as traveling with Laura and friends.

Troy and Laura moved to Irving in 1952 for 24 years. They were very active at First Christian Church, where Laura taught Sunday school and Troy was a deacon and Sunday school assistant. He was a Master Mason in Lodge 1218 in Irving where he received his fifty year membership.

They returned to McKinney after retirement and rejoined East Christian Church (now Hillcrest Christian).

He is survived by his son, Harold Wilcox and wife Cathy of Irving; grandchildren, Jana Barrett and husband Danny of Winnsboro, Texas, Craig Wilcox and wife Tabatha of Sulphur Springs, Texas; great-grandchildren, Cody Barrett of Winnsboro and Hannah Wilcox and Jacob Wilcox both of Sulphur Springs; sister, Patsy Dillard of Savoy, Texas; several nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.

Troy is preceded in death by his parents, George and Nettie Wilcox; wife, Laura Wilcox; sister, Oneta Abbott; brothers-in-law, Bob Abbott and Joe Frank Dillard.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
