Tony Chapparro Martinez, age 71, of Little Elm, Texas, passed away on July 25, 2016. He was born September 13, 1944, in Brownsville, Texas to Raymond Chapparro and Olga Martinez. On November 2, 1969, Tony married Mary Jane Martinez in Conroe, Texas; they celebrated 44 years of marriage. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged with the Purple Heart, Silver Star and Bronze Star awards. Tony moved his family to Plano, Texas in 1976. He worked for many companies including Select Brands, Target and Hunt Oil. Tony then ventured out and started his own successful brokerage firm, ACM Brokerage, in 1990, and worked side by side with his son Dax. He was very active in his community and had a passion for sports. Tony coached many teams and refereed many games, mainly through PSA from the late 70’s until the mid 90’s. He enjoyed spending time and coaching many of his son’s soccer, football and baseball teams. Tony was by his kid’s side at many sporting events and found great joy on the fields. He later felt the same enjoyment with his grandchildren; he was supportive of their extracurricular activities and took them to and from practices and games. Tony also enjoyed taking them to and from school and would spoil them with a treat afterwards. He was an amazing Grandpa. Tony was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his children, Dax Martinez of Frisco, Texas, Adrian Martinez of Little Elm, Texas and Petra Martinez also of Little Elm, Texas; grandchildren, Adrian Anthony Thornton, Carley Marie Thornton and Alyssa Rose Thornton; brother, Frank Martinez of Houston, Texas; and sister, Carman Scarborough of Houston, Texas.
Tony is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Martinez.
