Mr. Tommy Travis Smith, age 86, of Gilmer, Texas passed away peacefully, January 1, 2011, at his home. He was born on October 25, 1924, in McKinney, Texas to P.W. and Lavanna (Riley) Smith. On December 16, 1944, he married Lillian Lorraine Hague in Dallas, Texas. Tommy was a dairyman and of the Baptist faith. He served as a deacon at the Latch Missionary Baptist Church in Latch, Texas. Tommy is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jane and James Jones of Gilmer, Texas; granddaughter, Jodi Martin and her husband, Benjamin of Rosewood, Texas; grandson, Justus Jones of Gilmer; great grandson, Rowdy Hogue of Rosewood; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Harold Grisham of Bogata, Texas; sisters-in-law, Bessie Smith and Marjory Hague; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gale and Dee Hague; brother-in-law, Charles Morrison; and a host of other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Smith; 3 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2011, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Bro. Brian Faulkner officiating. Interment will follow at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m., Monday, January 3rd, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
