Mr. Tommy H. Beene, age 87, of McKinney, Texas passed away on March 7, 2004 in Georgetown, Texas. He was born on June 5, 1916 to Sam Houston and Lillie Mae (Robinson) Beene in Roby, Texas. On July 20, 1941 he married Helen Broadwell in Roscoe, Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WWII. His teaching and coaching career began in the early 1940’s, including Aspermont, Snyder, Anson, and Odessa, Texas. He was a member of the 2nd Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas and also a member of the Masonic Lodge. In 1984, he was inducted in the Texas Tennis Hall of Fame. He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughter, Sharon Beavers and husband, Richard of Spring, Texas; son, Mike Beene and wife, Linda of McKinney, Texas; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Nell Humphries of Edgewood, Texas, Dean Sansing of Mineola, Texas, Helyn Rinks of Edgewood, Texas and Lou Kerby of Austin, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 10, 2004 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. Donna Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
