Tom Gambrell

Thomas C. Gambrell, age 83, passed away in Bonham, Texas at the Clyde Cosper Texas State Veteran’s Home on May 29, 2012 after a long illness. Tom was born January 5, 1929, in Perryton, Texas to Cecil and Nola Gambrell. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and retired after twenty-one years of service. After his retirement, he received his college degree from West Texas State University. Tom traveled and spent time with family and friends. He loved his life, friends, the Air Force and all those who knew him.

He is survived by his sisters, Jean Simpson Rutledge of Westminster, Texas and Frieda Whitt of Austin, Texas; nieces and nephews, Larry and Jimmie Simpson of Sherman, Texas, Cindy Cowling of Westminster, Texas, Jim and Cynthia Linadros of Austin, Texas and Glenn and Julie Whittenberg of Burleson, Texas; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles, and niece, Paula Hendricks.

Tom would want to thank all those at Preston House Assisted Living in Sherman for the loving care he was given with a special thank you to Kayce Dacus, Pam Saenz, Megan Sailing, and Heather White.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Elm Grove Cemetery in Westminster, Texas with Rev. Tommy Shields officiating. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Friday, June 1, 2012, to pay their respects and to sign the register book.
