Tolbert Jackson Nichols, Jr., of McKinney, Texas, passed away on October 17, 2010. Tolbert was born December 30, 1945, in Honey Grove, Texas, to Tolbert Jackson Nichols, Sr. and Lela Lavenia (Walker) Nichols. He grew up in Paris, Texas and attended Delmar School. On January 16, 1964 he married Betty Chambless in Paris, Texas. Tolbert retired after 32 years of service with Mrs. Baird’s Bread. He was currently working as a service dispatcher for ACIS. Tolbert enjoyed sports, especially the Dallas Mavericks, Cowboys, and Rangers. He loved country music, movies, and anything having to do with his family. Tolbert was a member of Frisco Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Betty Nichols of McKinney, Texas; children, Penny Lanham and husband Sterling of Merryville, Louisiana, Mike Nichols and wife Diana of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Matt Lanham and wife Katlynn of Angleton, Texas, Ashley Lanham of Merryville, Louisiana, Katie Lanham of Denison, Texas, Michael Nichols of McKinney, Texas, and Zachary Nichols of McKinney, Texas; sisters, Eula Mae Havens of Dallas, Texas, Jo Alexander of Plano, Texas, Faye Woodard of Mesquite, Texas, and Marie Leopolas and husband Richard of Seagoville, Texas; several nieces and nephews; a host of other loving family and friends. Tolbert was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Clark Nichols; two brothers; and five sisters. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, 2:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, in Allen, Texas, with Todd Crayton, minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Climax, Texas. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience to pay their respects and to sign the register book on Tuesday. The family will receive friends at a visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
