Mr. TJ Spurgin, age 89, of McKinney, Texas passed away January 1, 2009, in McKinney. He was born on April 5, 1919, in Lucas, Texas to Thomas Benton and Liza (McKinney) Spurgin. On July 27, 1938, he married Emma Edmonds in McKinney. Mr. Spurgin served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was a farmer and of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Emma Spurgin; son, Rick Spurgin and daughter, Rita Walters all of McKinney; grandchildren, Debby Gowen also of McKinney, Betsy Rushing of Denison, Texas and Becki Hollaway of Aubrey, Texas; and 3 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 2, 2009, at Ridgeview Memorial Park with Rev. Rick Spurgin officiating. A visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m., prior to the service at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
