Theora Corneila Murdock Grimes of McKinney passed away September 30, 2011 at the age of 89. She was born April 13, 1922 to Seth and Maude (Sturdivant) Murdock in Clovis, New Mexico. Tiny attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma and graduated with a B.A. in Religious Education before receiving an additional B.A. in Elementary Education at the University of Austin in Austin, Texas. She married Arthur E. Grimes on December 25, 1942 in Dardanelle, Arkansas. Tiny was a retired school teacher having taught at Fannie Finch Elementary. She was an active member of First Christian Church in McKinney, Texas. Tiny is survived by her daughters, Gloria Hill of McKinney, Texas, Rosalyn J. Slaughter and husband J.T. of Longview, Texas, Annette D. Douglas and husband Ray of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Cheryl Morris, James Hill, Wendy Hill, J.C. Hill, Jim Slaughter, Erin Slaughter, Jeremiah Slaughter, Michelle Shaw, Alisha Bailey and Jimmy Bailey; seven great grandchildren; sister, Zeta Abrahamson of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur E. Grimes; two infant sons; parents, Seth and Maude Murdock; sister, Janice Gideon. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at First Christian Church in McKinney, Texas with Dr. Neill Grimes officiating. Interment to immediately follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation Monday, October 3, 2011 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow.
