Tildon Pope

Tildon Pope was born in Hallsboro, North Carolina on August 27, 1927. He served in the Army from March 29, 1945 until he was honorably discharged on January 13, 1949, spending the majority of his enlistment in Japan. Tildon received a World War II Victory Medal while in service. His father was Empie Franklin Pope and his mother was Letty Inman Pope. Tildon Pope was as selfless a man as ever could have been, always putting others before himself and always expecting to work for what he got. He was loved very deeply by his children and will be missed just as much. He is survived by his seven children, Richard Pope, Gregory Pope, Sandra James, Theresa Pope, April (Pope) Eckhardt, Elisabeth (Pope) Brown, and Josephine (Pope) Maltsberger; grandchildren, Samantha and Gregory Pope, II, Aiden and Analese Maltsberger, Carter and Cooper Brown, Jamie Boney and Neely and Remick Eckhardt; and his nephew and friend, Jerry Lanier. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters, Rosalee, Ruby, Lloyd, Glenn, and Frank. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 7, 2011, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. following the service. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday evening at the funeral home.
