Thomas Piner

Thomas Piner, born March 26, 1935, in Ozona, Texas, to Ray and Olene Piner, passed away on January 20, 2008, in Plano, Texas. Tom graduated from Ozona High School in 1953. He attended North Texas State University, graduating in 1957. He was an active member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Tom served his country in the United States Navy for 3 ½ years active duty, and seventeen years in the Naval Reserve, attaining the rank of Commander. Tom married Betty Walley Piner in Denton on June 3, 1957. He was employed for thirty-four years by Wyeth Laboratories. Tom was a member of Custer Road United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Betty; daughters, Anne Bownds, Pam Jones and her husband Carl, and Carol Siwald and her husband Scott; grandchildren, Katie and Beth Bownds, Brent and Brian Jones, and Lauren, Shannon and Ryan Siwald; brother, Ray Piner; and sister, Edith Davis and her husband Jim, all of Meridian, TX. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at Ridgeview Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at Custer Road United Methodist Church in Plano, TX. The family will receive friends during a visitation at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home on Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Memorials in Tom’s honor may be made to the ministries at Custer Road United Methodist Church in Plano.
