Thomas Marvin Peebles

Thomas Marvin Peebles, age 71, of Fairview, Texas, passed away August 21, 2013, in Fairview. Thomas was born October 17, 1941, in Greenwood, Mississippi, to William Sid and Lucille (Thompson) Peebles. He married Patricia Howard on August 16, 1975, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Thomas grew up in Mississippi. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1963 with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics and then completed a master’s degree in technical education in 1975. He was a member of the Mathematics Society at USM as well as Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Thomas taught computer programming at Pearl River Jr. College in Mississippi. He then worked for the U. S. Census Bureau, Department of Commerce in Washington D.C. Thomas enjoyed gardening and his pets. Thomas was a member of Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church in Allen, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Howard Peebles of Fairview, Texas; mother, Lucille Peebles of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; brother, William L. “Billy” Peebles of Mississippi; sister, Sydney Christen and husband, Dan of Garland, Texas; nieces and nephew, Renee Jones of Richardson, Texas, Cathy Mathis and husband Ronnie, of Grapevine, Texas, Linda Stevens and husband, Darrell, of Flower Mound, Texas, Stephanie Wier of Plano, Texas, Lesley Fairley of Pass Christian, Mississippi, and William Ryan Peebles and wife, Mandy of Nashville, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Midge Stradley and husband, Kenny of Lawton, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Butch Johnson, also of Lawton; nephews, Mike Johnson, Shawn Johnson and wife, LeAnn, and Kenny Wayne Stradley, all of Lawton, Oklahoma; and numerous great-nephews and great- nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father and sister-in-law, Sherry Howard Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2013, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Graveside services will take place at Letitia Cemetery in Lawton, Oklahoma, on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at 1:00 p.m.
