Thomas P. Ellis, age 80, of Allen, Texas, passed away December 15, 2013, in Allen. He was born August 3, 1933, in Harvey, Illinois, to Thomas Patrick and Mary (Davis) Ellis. He married his beloved wife of 56 years, Mayumi Imao, on November 4, 1957, in Nagoya, Japan. Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Air Force where he retired as a Master Sergeant after 23 years of service. He later retired from the US Postal Service. Thomas attended night school while in the Air Force and eventually earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland. He was a long-time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Garland, as well as the US Golf Association and Mensa.
He is survived by his wife, Mayumi Ellis of Allen, Texas; children, Tracy Ellis and wife, Ann of Damascus, Maryland, Tina Ellis and husband, David Putnam of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Timothy Ellis and wife, Gina of Richardson, Texas, and Teri Ellis Schmidt and husband, Thomas of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Daniel, Rachel, Sarah, William, Forrest, Reagan, Kenji, Tuscani, and Tennyson; brother, Harold Hall and wife, Sharon of Chicago, Illinois; and numerous other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marjorie Wolf.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 19, 2013, at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. prior to the graveside service.
