Thomas Grant Crossnoe, Jr.

Born on July 28, 1925 in Nashville, Tennessee to Thomas and Virginia Crossnoe; died at his home in McKinney, Texas on November 16, 2007. Tom was educated in the Nashville public schools and served in the Navy Seabees during World War II from 1942–1945. After leaving the service, he attended Tulane University, LSU and graduated in 1952 from Peabody Teachers College (now part of Vanderbilt University) where received his BA and MA. He married Patricia Jean Lee on December 22, 1952. He taught at Mississippi Women’s College, Troy State University, Ohio State University, and Wichita State University before going to Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. At MSU, Tom was chairman of the Art Department from 1966 until 1986. After retiring in 1989, he continued working as a silversmith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Virginia Crossnoe, and a son, James. He is survived by his wife, Pat, of McKinney, Texas; son Thomas Crossnoe, of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter, Deborah Crossnoe Johnson, of Plano, Texas; sister, Eda Lewis, of Nashville, Tennessee; and three grandchildren. The funeral service will be Friday, November 23, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 511 Foote Street, McKinney, Texas, 75069. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
