IN LOVING MEMORY

Theodore Wayne Thornton

Apr 29 1961 - Jul 19 2015

Theodore (Ted) Wayne Thornton, born April 29, 1961 in Frankfort, Indiana, devoted husband and father, and committed business leader, died July 19, 2015. He was 54 years old.

After graduating from Ball State University with his MBA in 1984 he married his college sweetheart, Teresa McDonald, and moved to Virginia Beach, VA. After moving back to Indiana and holding a variety of professional positions, his career was directed into the medical sales field. He started with General Medical 25 years ago and has continued through the transitions into McKesson Corporation. He has served many different roles and most recently served as the VP of GPO’s and Surgery Centers. Ted’s career took him from Virginia, to Indiana, and eventually to Texas where he established his family’s roots.

Ted’s deep commitment to achieving his goals was underlined by his dedication to the people on his teams. He reveled in their accomplishments and success. He earned numerous awards for his ability to grow, lead and develop the McKesson brand with upmost integrity recognized by customers and executives alike.

Exploring the world and experiencing it with his family was a true passion for Ted. He crafted trips that would make any travel agent envious, and planned every detail so each moment offered wonder in the sites. Among his favorite trips were to Europe, the BVI and our national parks. He also thoroughly enjoyed annual golf outings with his Indiana buddies.

The son of J.W. Thornton and Gladys Thornton (both deceased) of Frankfort, Indiana, Ted was an avid sports fan taking in any Indianapolis Colts game he could, coaching his son’s youth basketball team, and enjoying Indy car racing at the Indianapolis 500.

Ted is survived by his wife of 32 years, Teresa; daughters, Hayley and Diana; son, Peyton; and beloved dog, Jake. He also has a cousin Steve Workman, in CA and an aunt, Betty Workman of IN. Ted has many brother and sister-in-laws, close friends and colleagues that will remember him with the greatest of fondness and love.

The Thornton family would like to extend its deepest thanks to the McKesson “family” who have taken great strides to care for one of their own so graciously, as well as TX Oncology in Plano for their excellent care. Finally, this journey could not have been possible without the outpouring of love and support from close friends. Miracles happen all around us in the details of life.

Funeral services will be held at Suncreek United Methodist Church in Allen, TX on Saturday July 25, 2015 at 3:00pm.

Donations can be made in Ted’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Mary Crowley Cancer Research Center or Suncreek United Methodist Church.
