Theodore "Ted" Lustig

Theodore (Ted) Lustig of Fairview, Texas died November 10, 2013 at the age of 87. He was born February 22, 1926 to Maurice Lustig and Cecilia Kobrin Lustig in New York, New York. Ted married Mary Lou Maresca on November 10, 1957 in New York. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the WWII and the Korea War as a reserve officer and a public information officer.

Ted retired with a rank of Major in 1965, after twenty-three years of service. He was a magna cum laude graduate of Syracuse University School of Journalism and holder of a master’s degree in mass communication from New York University. Prior to entering the public relations field, he was a magazine editor, a book editor, a foreign correspondent in Europe, and a news service picture editor. Following a thirty year career in corporate public relations, principally with Fortune 500 companies, he joined the faculty of P.I. Reed School of Journalism at West Virginia University (WVU) in 1989. Ted retired from WVU in 1998 after almost a decade of service. As a working journalist, he was a former contributing editor to Graphic Arts Monthly magazine, the largest circulation publication serving the printing industry. He was an author of numerous other articles that have appeared in national publications, including The Public Relation Journal and PRSA’s Tactics, as well as in professional journals and encyclopaedias.

Ted is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Lou Lustig of Fairview, Texas; son, Michael G. Lustig and wife Aidita of Tinton Falls, New Jersey; daughters, Rachel Celia Walsh and husband Peter of New Canaan, Connecticut and Andrea Irene Flinchbugh and husband Richard of Lucas, Texas; grandchildren, Kaitlin Walsh of Studio City, California, Samantha Walsh of New York, New York, Daniel Walsh of Princeton, New Jersey, Alex Lustig of Tinton Falls, New Jersey, Mathew Flinchbaugh, Juliana Flinchbaugh, Grace Flinchbaugh, Amelia Flinchbaugh, and William Flinchbaugh all of Lucas, Texas, and brother, Philip Lustig of Downingtown, Pennsylvania. 

A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 16, 2013 at The Heritage Ranch Golf Club in Fairview, Texas.  Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery.
