Thelma Elizabeth Copeland

Thelma Elizabeth Hardin Copeland was born January 19, 1920 in Whitewright, Texas to Hobson and Earlene McMillin Hardin. She married Leon Odom Copeland on February 5, 1938 in Sherman, Texas. She passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Texoma Healthcare in Sherman, Texas at the age of 97. She went to be with her husband of 77 years and her Heavenly Father.

Thelma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister. She supported Leon in his many activities. She was a long time member of the East Sherman Baptist Church. She was greatly loved and will be missed.

She is survived by daughters, Barbara Hinton of Tom Bean and Marjorie Forehand of Tulsa, Oklahoma; son, Ricky Copeland and wife Shanee of Irving; grandchildren, Janet, Beth, Charles Jr., Dennis, Rebecca, Collette, Kristian, and Cody; 17 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Hardin and wife Sarah of Tom Bean; sister, Emma Walker and husband Douglas of Sherman; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leon Copeland; son, Lether Copeland; grandson, Richard Lynn Harper; and brothers, Bobby Lee Hardin and Harold Glen Hardin.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, Whitewright, Texas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Tony Forehand. Burial will follow at Pilot Grove Cemetery in Pilot Grove, Texas. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family will receive friends during a visitation on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 1:00pm until service time at 2:00pm at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas.

The family wishes to express how important her two caregivers were to her and the family. Nurse Angie McClain for always being on call when we needed her. She calmed our fear when we were worried. Christy and Michael Owen for taking such good care of her personal needs. She kept her home perfect just like she liked it. They will always be part of our family.
