IN LOVING MEMORY

Terri Lynn Lewis

Dec 28 1955 - Feb 05 2011

Teressa Lynn Sawyer Lewis (Terri) was born on December 28, 1955 in McKinney, Texas and died on February 5, 2011 in Flower Mound, TX after a short illness. An over-achiever, Terri was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Oklahoma and North Texas State University, where she majored in audiology. In 1975, she met David Lewis, her life-long companion, and settled in the Lewisville area, where they have lived ever since. Terri worked for many years as a specialist in human resources and, at the time of her death, worked for the Department of Homeland Security. She is preceded in death by her beloved father, Fred L Sawyer, whom she adored. She leaves behind David Lewis, her forever friend; her mom, Betty Sawyer Hitchings of McKinney, TX; her sister, Cheryl Sawyer Barrett and husband Roby from McKinney, TX; David’s parents, Delora and Christine Lewis; her nieces, Tracy Barrett and Hannah Lewis, nephews Michael Learn and Hayden Lewis, and grand-nephews Gus and Eli Barrett-Learn from Fargo, ND, who insisted she play with them and all of their new toys as they celebrated Christmas together this year. Terri loved fishing and canoeing. She also longed to travel back to Austria, a country she fell in love with during her younger years. She was a thinker, a dreamer and a passionate American who loved her country, her family and her God. A private memorial service will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church Chapel, 5871 W. Virginia Parkway, McKinney, TX, 75071, on Tuesday, February 8 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made in her name to: Ann’s Haven Hospice, 216 W. Mulberry St., Denton, Texas 76201 or, the Paralyzed Veterans Association, Donations Processing Center, 7 Mill Brook Road, Wilton, NH 03086. From an old Irish headstone, “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.”
