Tase Edward Bailey, Sr.

Tase Edward Bailey, Sr., of Pensacola, passed away on May 4, 2011 at the age of 89 in McKinney, Texas. Tase was born September 27, 1921 in Chase City, Virginia, to John and Grace (Wilson) Bailey. He married Julia Pape on April 17, 1943 in Pensacola, Florida. Tase served in the United States Navy from 1939 until 1961 and served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. After retiring from the USN, he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration and became the Chief of Flight Service Station at Pensacola Municipal Airport. He was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral. For many years, he was an active volunteer with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Tase is survived by his son, Tase E. Bailey, Jr. and wife, Kim of Fairview, Texas; grandchildren, Dara Wolfe and husband, Scott of Dallas, Texas; Meggan Burchfield and husband, Joseph of Dallas, Texas; and Tase E. Bailey, III and wife, Elizabeth of North Carolina; two sisters; two brothers; and eight great grandchildren. Tase was preceded in death by his parents, wife, granddaughter Jennifer Bailey, two sisters, and one brother. A memorial service will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas, on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. A rosary will be held at Harper Morris Funeral Home in Pensacola, Florida, on Sunday, May 8, at 3:00 p.m. followed by family visitation until 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Pensacola on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum in Pensacola. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the name of Tase E. Bailey, Sr. to Sacred Heart Cathedral School or Pensacola Catholic High School. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that their Texas friends consider making a donation to Hospice Plus, 3100 McKinnon Street, Suite 200, Dallas, TX, 75201.
