Mrs. Sylvia Emma Kersey, age 96 of Plano, TX, passed away August 19, 2005 in McKinney, TX. She was born on February 21, 1909 in Lake Dallas (Garza Little Elm), TX to Thomas James and Gabrilla Elizabeth (Dixon) Robb. On August 6, 1937 in Greenville, TX she married Cecil Glenn Kersey. Mrs. Kersey was a member of the First Baptist Church in Aurora, IL. She taught school in Texas and Oregon as well as in Aurora, where she taught at Oak Park Elementary and was the first principal and a teacher at Clifford I. Johnson Elementary School. Survivors include her son, Kenneth Robb Kersey and wife, Donna of Plano; daughter, Kay Benno and husband, Steve of Allen, TX; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Lee of Paris, TX; and brother, Thomas Glenmore Robb of California. Her parents, T.J. and Gabrilla Robb, her husband, Cecil Glenn Kersey, and two brothers, Delbert and Homer Ray Robb preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM, Monday, August 22, 2005, at WillowCreek Fellowship, 1804 Avenue P in Plano with Rev. Roy Frady, Dr. Taylor Gardner, and Rev. Greg Benno officiating. Memorials may be made to Judson College, 1151 N. State Street, Elgin, IL 60123-1498. A donation made to the Cecil G. Kersey Trust Account is restricted to scholarships originating in that account. Memorials may also be made to Meals on Wheels of Collin County, or to the charity of your choice.
