Susan Camp Fogarty, age 60, Richardson, Texas, passed away December 29, 2009, in Horseshoe Bay, Texas. Susan was born December 29, 1949, in Littlefield, Texas to Bernis and Anne (MacFarland) Camp. Susan grew up in Muleshoe, Texas. She attended W.T.S.U., graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. Her first teaching job was in Lake Charles, Texas. She received her Master’s Degree from The University of Texas. Susan’s next position was as a diagnostician with the Amarillo Independent school district at the alternative high school. After marrying W. Tom Fogarty, M.D. on September 3, 1981, in Amarillo, Texas, they moved to the Dallas area where she accepted a position as a diagnostician with Carrolton-Farmers Branch school district. Susan’s ability to connect with teenagers allowed her to easily move into her next role as Assistant Principal at Newman Smith High School where she mentored both teachers and students for the next ten years. She retired in 2003 as the Director of Student Services for the school district, after thirty years in education, where she positively impacted multitudes of students and educators. After retiring, Susan spent quality time with her mother, sisters and other family members. She focused her newfound time and energies to enrich her life and those around her. Susan and Tom were able to travel more and enjoyed spending time at their weekend home in Horseshoe Bay. She is survived by her husband, W. Tom Fogarty, M.D. of Richardson, Texas; sisters, Patte Camp of McKinney, Texas and Carol Camp Stimson and her husband Dave, of Plano, Texas; brother, Bob Camp and wife Carolyn of Indianna, Pennsylvania; and sisters-in-law, Anne Bradley and husband Ray of Canyon, Texas and Marie Fogarty, also of Canyon; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Becky Keith and Joyce Camp Rue. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 2, 2010, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas with Richard Rehm, M.D. officiating. Interment will follow at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen or to the charity of your choice.
