Stanley Emmanuel Hodges, Jr.

Stanley E. Hodges, Jr., M.D., age 74, of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully February 20, 2005, at his home. He was born October 30, 1930, in Monroe, Louisiana, to Stanley Emanuel and Mayme Guerriero Hodges, Sr. On August 18, 1956, he married Jo Ann McDonald of Monroe. He attended St. Matthews School and Northeast Junior College in Monroe, and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and his Doctor of Medicine Degree from LSU Medical School in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Hodges completed his residency in Nuclear Medicine/Radiology at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. He served as a medical officer in the u. S. Navy during 1957-1960. He served as Chairman of the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Assistant Chairman of the Department of Radiology at Confederate Memorial Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana, prior to having his private practice in the same fields in Dallas and the Metroplex. He served on the staffs at Gaston Episcopal Hospital and North Texas Hospital and served as Chief of Staff at Bristol General Hospital and General Hospital of Lakewood. His honors include Fellow of American College of Nuclear Physicians in 1983; Chairman TMA Committee on Nuclear Medicine 1980-1985; Texas Radiology Society Representative to TMA Council on SocioEconomics 1984; Dallas County Medical Society Alternate Delegate to Texas Medical Society 1982-1986; Dallas County Medical Society Delegate to Texas Medical Society 1986; and President of Association in Nuclear Medicine 1977-1978. Dr. Hodges was an active contributor to advances in his medical fields and actively involved in the AMA, TMA, Dallas County Medical Society, Radiological of North America, American College of Nuclear Medicine, American College of Nuclear Physicians, and numerous other associations and societies. Dr. Hodges loved photography and has provided his family and friends with visual memories to last a lifetime. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann M. Hodges of Plano, Texas; daughters, Janet Davis and husband, Chris, and Melody Catlothy and husband, Mark, all of Plano, Texas, and Wendy Jordan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; son, John Christopher Hodges and wife, Amy of Wilmington, North Carolina; grandchildren, Brian and Sarah Davis, Andrew and Hannah Jordan, and Joshua and Emma Hodges; aunt, Dorothy Dunnett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Juanita Guerriero of Monroe, Louisiana, Mary Guerriero of Madison, Mississippi; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Frank Jordan. Graveside services will be held at a future date.
