Sidney Gene Richards, age 77, of McKinney, Texas passed away June 14, 2008. He was born December 16, 1930 in Greenwood, Arkansas, to Sidney Allen and Minnie (Laster) Richards. On February 17, 1953 he married Linda Souza in Patuxent River, Maryland. Sidney proudly served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked for the City Water Plant in Stockton, California and retired as a Superintendent from the City Water Plant in Garland, Texas. He was a member of the American Legion. He was an Eagle Scout and a Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts. He is survived by his wife, Linda Richards of McKinney, Texas; son, David Allen Richards of Stockton, California; daughters, Debra Ann Garrison of McKinney, Texas, Lori Jane Thompson of Stockton, California and Melinda Gene Smith of Frisco, Texas; nine grandchildren and sister, Pat Been of Greenwood, Arkansas. A graveside service with military honors will be held Monday, June 23, 2008, at 1:00 PM, at DFW National Cemetery.
