Mrs. Shirley Joan Hays, age 77, passed away October 26, 2009, peacefully into the arms of the Lord. She was born on January 31, 1932, in Marshall, Texas to Leland and Bernice England. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her sister, Patricia Diane Kee. Shirley was a long time resident of Dallas and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1949. Glenn and Shirley raised their family in Lake Highlands and moved to Plano to be closer to their children in 2007. She was employed as an administrative assistant for General Motors for 32 years and retired in 1984. Shirley loved to shop, read, and most of all spend time with her grandchildren whom she adored. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Glenn Hays; children, Jeffrey Hays and wife, Terri Hays, Julie Hays Smith and husband, Scott Smith; grandchildren, Kameron Bavender-Hays, Collin Smith, Haley Smith, and Trent Smith; sister, Sharon Weiner; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 29, 2009, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel.
