Shirley Fay Coleman

Shirley Fay Coleman, 74, of Plano, Texas, went home to be with the Lord May 4, 2015, with her family at her side.  She was born to Gordon and Lafern Pritchett, March 21, 1941, in Long Beach, California.  Shirley grew up in Abilene, Texas and moved to Dallas in 1969.

Shirley was active in the life of her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed involvement in her grandchildren’s extracurricular activities, hosted many sleepovers, and was a fierce defender of them.  Shirley once shared that her life goal was to love and be loved by her children and grandchildren, an endeavor she accomplished ten-fold.

Shirley was a member of First United Methodist Church Plano.  She loved to travel to New York and Hawaii with friends and family.  She enjoyed going to the Arboretum and attending the Dallas Summer Musicals at Fair Park.

Shirley is survived by her children Roger Coleman, of Plano, and Sheila Bowling and husband Russel Bowling, of Plano.  She is survived by four grandchildren: Brian Coleman, of Lewisville; Sarah Coleman, of The Colony; and Shannon and Shaun Bowling, of Plano.  She is also survived by her brother, Johnny Wilson, of Abilene, her sister, Twila Peters, of Fort Collins, Colorado, and other loving family and friends.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Gordon Pritchett and Lafern Wilson; her son, Michael Coleman; her sister, Linda Sue Meador; and her brother, Weldon Pritchett.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 7,2015, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas.  Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
