IN LOVING MEMORY

Sheila Mavourneen Bridget Fallon Andress

Jan 31 1939 - Mar 21 2012

We remember with love Sheila Mavourneen Bridget Fallon Andress

Born 31 January 1939 in Bridgeport, CT. Died 21 March 2012 in Allen, TX

She is predeceased by her parents, Bill and Rose Fallon, and her brother, William Daniel Fallon, and she is survived by her siblings, Eileen Durso, Mary Lengyel, and Patrick Fallon, her husband, Robert Charles Andress, her three daughters, Claire Marie Andress, Rosemary Katherine Andress-Sanborn, and Eleanor Mary Graham, and her grandchildren Ivan Zachary Rieve, Katherine Marie Graham, Genevieve Marie Sanborn, and Johanna May Sanborn.

She attended Albertus Magnus College on a full scholarship, and graduated with a degree in English in 1961.  She also attended Yale University, also on a scholarship.

She then taught English at Hill House high school in New Haven from 1961-1965.

In 1965 she moved to New York City, where she met her husband, Robert Charles Andress, at a church gathering.  They were married on 11 April 1970, at St. James Church in Stratford, CT.

During her life, she was extremely active in the Women’s Rights Movement, and particularly the campaign for the ERA, participating in a march on Washington, DC.  She pointed out the lack of female role models in the Children’s Encyclopedia Britannica and was engaged to rewrite them with more women.    She was also highly involved in the church, teaching in several parishes and participating in the Vatican Council.

In her parish in Texas, St. Jude in Allen, she was known as the Saint Lady, because she prepared personal saint bios for the confirmation and RCIA students for several years.  She also taught both CCD and RCIA, and participated in the Bible study group.

The family will receive friends for a viewing at 3PM – 5PM on Sunday, 25 March 2012, at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral.  There will be a rosary at 7PM Sunday at St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, TX.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church at 2:30 PM on Monday, 26 March, 2012.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Covenant House.  This can be done online at www.covenanthouse.org.
