Sean Evan Neely

Sean E. Neely was born on June 22, 1966 and passed away on May 4, 2017 at the age of 50 years, 10 months and 12 days.  Although he was born in Sherman, he spent almost all of his first two years in Bonham.  He then moved to Garland and later to Plano for a short while.  At the age of three and one half, he moved to the Forest Gardens Apartments on Plano Road, located in Dallas where he lived until just after his nineteenth birthday.  He graduated from Berkner High School in the Richardson School District.  Sean honorably served his country for twenty years as a member of the United States Navy.  He completed the Basic Aviation Structural Mechanic Course in Millington, Tennessee.  He then went to Whidley Naval Air Station in Washington where he served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk.  He fought in Freedom Iraq and in 2003, he was deployed on the Abraham Lincoln, where he had the privilege of meeting President George W. Bush.  In 2015, Sean retired as a Chief Petty Officer, First Class.

Sean was preceded in death by his grandparents:  R. B. and Rachel (Shaffer) Terry, Robert L. and Mavis (Sherrod) Neely; his great-grandparents:  Neil Sherrod and Ethel Sherrod and his uncle and aunt:  Robert G. and Nan Terry.

Sean is survived by his wife of eight years, Michelle (McKelvey) Neely.  They love each other very much.  He is also survived by his father, Jerry L. Neely and wife Elvie and their two sons, Matthew and Nicholas; his mother, Carolyn Kay (Terry) Neely; his three step-daughters which he loved as his own: Angel Radick and Chelesea and Shelby Lang; two step grandsons, Bodhi and Logan Michelic, whose mother is Angel Radick and father is Brian Michelic; his first cousin, John G. Terry, wife, Laura, and their two sons; his uncle Joe Neely, wife Carmen, and their children; his uncle Donald Neely and his children; his uncle Nolan, wife, Linda (Neely) Norris and their son.

A family visitation and memorial service is scheduled for Saturday June 3, 2017 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and the memorial service will begin at 2:00 P.M.  Dr. Dereck Draper will officiate.  The committal service will follow immediately at the Leonard Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite cancer research and/or treatment organization.
