Sarah Roberta Gee

Mrs. Roberta Gee, age 93, of Plano, Texas, passed away May 10, 2007, in Plano, Texas. She was born January 3, 1914, in Norman, Oklahoma, to Joseph and Edith Ellen (Carpenter) Fox. She attended high school in Porum, Oklahoma and attended junior college in Warner, Oklahoma at Connors Junior College. She later attended Draughn Business College, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She and her brother owned and operated their own newspaper, The Quinton Times where she was the youngest female newspaper editor in the State of Oklahoma at the age of 21. On February 10, 1935, she married Marvis Eugene Gee in Stigler, Oklahoma. Mrs. Gee worked as an administrative assistant for the Bureau of Indian Affairs for 21 years. She was a member of the Northrich Baptist Church in Richardson, Texas. She is survived by her children, Donna Benson and her husband Tom of Richardson, Texas, Robert Gee and his wife Janet of Richardson, Texas, and Elaine Spohn and her husband David of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Tauna Benson, Tina Carter and her husband Kyle, Kim Dickson and her husband Rodney, James Gee, Josh Brown and fiancée, Monica Switzer, Deke Brown and his wife Rosie, Jared Brown and his wife Shawne, Natalie Smith and her husband Tim, and Zachary Spohn; great-grandchildren, Mack Henry and Tommy Gee Carter, Dustin, Kortni and Delani Dickson, Abby and Austin Bryan, Beau Brown, Sophia Brown, Ethan, Dylan and Mason Smith, Gabby Aduddell, Sandy Land, and Sydni Brown; and sister, Lois Allen of California. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Marvis; sisters, Edith Elaine Lowe and Mary Mildred Plunkett; and brother, J. O. Fox. Funeral services will by held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. Gerald Ware officiating. Interment will follow at 3:30 PM at Quinton Cemetery in Quinton, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday evening beginning at 6:30 PM.
