Sara Isabel Newland, born July 27, 1920 in Hillsboro, Ohio, died Friday, December 17, 2004 at her daughter’s home in Dallas. She joined the Mt. Zion Church of Christ of Belfast, Ohio in 1932. She married Everett Newland, Jr. in Richmond, Indiana in 1947. She received her BS degree in Elementary Education from Wilmington College Ohio and taught for 35 years in several states following her husband who was an electrical engineer for Bell Laboratories. They retired in Spring, Texas. After her husband’s death, she moved to McKinney to reside with her daughter, Sandra Myers. She joined the First Christian Church of McKinney and remained a faithful member. She is survived by her son, Philip Newland of Houston and daughter, Sandra Myers of Dallas; grandchildren, Jason and Daniel Newland of Naperville, Illinois, Chip and Sara Myers of Dallas; Roland and Tiffanee McGuire of Pearland, Texas; and sister, Louise Smith of Wildwood, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Funeral services at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 21, 2004, at the First Christian Church in McKinney with Dr. Neill Grimes officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, at Klein Memorial Park in Pinehurst, Texas, where she will be laid to rest with her late husband.
