Sandra Rae Smith, age 71, of Plano, Texas, passed away November 18, 2008, at home. Sandra was born January 16, 1937, in Hamlin, Texas, to Ray Dowdy and Vivian Vernez (Rasor) Russell. She married Richard W. Smith on December 27, 1955 in Bishop, Texas. Sandra retired as librarian from Allen Public Library after twenty-five years of service. She was a devoted wife of fifty-three years and a loving mother and grandmother. Sandra was a dedicated traveler who enjoyed all the fine arts, museums, concerts and never lost her child like wonder for life. She is survived by her husband, Richard W. Smith of Plano, Texas; daughter, Michal Smith of Mt. Ida, Arkansas; son, Darrell Smith and his wife, Stacie of Marshall, Texas; son, Derek Smith of Farmers Branch, Texas; daughter, Shanna Smith of Marshall, Texas; grandchildren, Taylor, Kelcie, Adam, Savannah, Nicholas, and Amy; sister, Janis Bull of San Saba, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 21, 2008, at Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport, Louisiana. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
