Samantha Irene Schmidt, age 10, of Lucas, Texas passed away January 30, 2012 with her parents holding her hands. She was born August 2, 2001 in Plano, Texas to Perry Dean Schmidt and Peggy Marene (Akkerman) Schmidt. Samantha actively attended Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, where she was involved in the children’s choir, musicals and faithfully attended Sunday school. She attended Story Elementary in Allen through the fourth grade, before moving to Lucas where she was included in the Hart Elementary family. Samantha “Stonewall” was a proud member of the All-Star soccer team. She loved participating in the UIL music memory competition, where she earned perfect papers. She enjoyed art, writing poetry and reading. Samantha loved to go camping with her family and friends. She loved the family dog, CJ and the newest addition to her family, her puppy Rosie. Most of all Samantha dearly loved her family and loved being a child of God. She is survived by her parents, Perry and Peggy Schmidt of Lucas, Texas brother, Daniel Schmidt of Lucas, Texas; grandparents, Ken and Doris Schmidt of Neenah, Wisconsin, Gary and Terri Akkerman of De Smet, South Dakota; uncle, Mike Schmidt and wife, Carrie of Alpharetta, Georgia; aunt, Penny Catlin and husband, Chris and their children, David and Elizabeth of Stillwater, Minnesota; uncle, Ryan Akkerman and wife, Catherine of Princeton, Texas and their children Mackenzie and Ryder. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 3, 2012 at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, Allen, Texas with Rev. Gordon Illausky officiating. Interment will follow at Pecan Grove Cemetery, McKinney, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 5:00 -8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
