Sallie Kindle Thomas

Sallie Kindle Thomas, age 95, passed away September 22, 2007, in Abilene, Texas where she had resided since 2001. She was born Sarah Clarissa Kindle on November 24, 1911, in McKinney Texas to George and Maggie Jane (Stiff) Kindle. She was a member of the First Christian Church there, and was a graduate of McKinney High School. She attended College of Industrial Arts (now Texas Woman’s University) in Denton and received her Texas Teaching Certificate in 1931. She taught two years at Enloe and two years at McDonald, both small schools in Collin County. On June 6, 1937, she married Marion A. Thomas in the First Christian Church in McKinney. They lived in Ranger, Texas from 1937 to 1940; Hollis, Oklahoma from 1941 to 1942; Trinidad , Texas from 1943 to 1962; and Ranger, Texas from 1962 to 2001. She was a past President of the 1920 Club in Ranger, and a 50 year member of Texas Federation of Women’s Clubs. She joined the Methodist Church in Trinidad and was a member of the Ranger Methodist Church at the time of her death. She is survived by her son, Marion A. (Tommy) Thomas, Jr., and his wife Janet E. of Eastland, Texas; granddaughter, Catherine E. Roach and her husband Jeff of Arlington, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; her parents; four brothers; and seven sisters. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, September 24, 2007 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
