Rutha Doris Kirby, age 90, of Wylie, Texas passed away April 6, 2012. She was born November 10, 1921 in McKinney, Texas to George Washington Chambers and Winnie Alice (Jordan) Chambers.
Rutha worked at McShan Florist for over forty years. The last two years of her life she would spend every Sunday visiting Founders Plaza Nursing Home in Wylie, where she loved to minister to the residents. Rutha loved to cook. She loved being with family and friends more than anything. Rutha always put others first and was the rock of her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Blaylock of Wylie, Texas; granddaughters, Jessica Paige Longmire and husband, Eric of Nevada, Texas, Tressie Jean Kirby of Royce City, Texas; grandsons, Paladin Wayne Kirby of Josephine, Texas, Charles Keller Womack and wife, Amy of Ennis, Texas; great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Longmire, Mason Longmire, Faith Womack, Charley Womack, Jordan Kirby, Josh Kirby, Dalton Kirby and Jessica Kirby; several great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Winnie Chambers and one son, Jerry Kirby.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, April 9, 2012 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas.
The family will receive friends and family during a visitation on Sunday, April 8, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
