Ruth A. Shively, age 80, of Allen, Texas, passed away January 6, 2015 in Plano, Texas. Ruth was born September 3, 1934, in Bruin, Pennsylvania, to Clyde J. and Cecilia (Hinterlang) McCorry. She married David Ray Shively on June 11, 1955, in Chicora, Pennsylvania. Ruth was involved in numerous activities including the Scarlett O’Hatter Society also known as the Red Hat Society, her bunko and book club groups, as well as her bible study group at First Presbyterian Church in Allen where she was a member and also served as an elder. She especially loved having dinner with her family. Ruth loved sitting outside on her back porch. She enjoyed having friends and being a friend.
She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Pierce and husband, Bob of Allen, Texas and Pam White of Dallas, Texas; son, Kevin Shively and wife, Meg of Tyler, Texas; grandchildren, Karen Liddy and husband, John of Dallas, Texas, Emily White of Denton, Texas, Elizabeth Johnson and husband, Mark of Allen, Texas, and Katie Galletley and husband, Paul of McKinney, Texas; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Jane Barger and husband, Ken of Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her husband, brother, Bob McCorry, and sister, Virginia Traher.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church, 605 S. Greenville Ave., Allen, Texas, 75002. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.
