Russell Lewis Robinson

Russell Lewis Robinson was born to John Thomas and Elizabeth Lewis Robinson on December 9, 1921 on the Robinson Farm north of Celina. Lewis attended school at Alla Hubbard and later transferred to Celina where he graduated. He attended Arlington State University but did not graduate as he returned home to farm when his dad passed away. Lewis and Margaret Newsom married on January 20, 1942 in Celina. The couple farmed and ranched in the Celina and Gunter area. The Robinson Farm, established in 1879, is listed with the Texas Heritage Farms Lewis was an avid fisherman, hunter and was involved in numerous civic and community activities. He served on the Alla Hubbard Estate Board of Trustees since 1941, the Grayson Collin Electric Coop Board of Directors for 50 years, a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Celina, Director of Collin County Farmers Mutual Insurance Company and a member of the Southwest Cattle Raisers Association. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ellen Newsom of 64 years; two sons, Thomas Lee Robinson and wife Barbara of Alvord, Texas and Stephen Lewis Robinson and wife Jacqueline of Celina, Texas; five grandchildren, Seth Robinson of Atlanta, Georgia, Chad Robinson and wife Shelly of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Adam Robinson and wife Kristy of Magnolia, Texas, Leigh Ann Robinson of Dallas, Texas and Kyle Robinson of Celina; five great grandchildren; one sister, Jennie C. Wallace of Sherman, Texas. He is preceded in death by both parents and one sister, Annabel Jordan. Services will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Celina, Texas with Pastors Wally Butts and Doug Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Old Celina Cemetery.
