Russell Dean Johnson

Longtime resident of Melissa, Texas, Russell Johnson went to be with his Lord and savior after a lengthy illness. Russell was born in Dimmitt, Texas, on June 27, 1950, to CJ and Omega Johnson. He grew up in Dimmitt before attending college in Phoenix, Arizona. He then worked for Texas Instrument and Raytheon for 38 years in the Dallas area. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Melissa, Texas. Russell loved the outdoors and loved to go camping, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Vicky Johnson of Melissa, Texas; daughters, Melissa Holbert and husband Wayne of McKinney, Texas, Michelle Gagiano and husband Neil of Portland, Oregon, and Jill Miller and husband Toby of Howe, Texas; step-children, Billy Blackwell and wife Amy, Allan Blackwell and wife Kimberly, and Amber Delgado. Grandchildren, Mason Holbert, Zack Huerta, A.J., Jacob, and Brian Blackwell, Tony Barragan, and Molly, Everette, and Sadie Blackwell; sister, Carol McCullough and brother, Keith Johnson, both of Lawton, Oklahoma; several other loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and and friends. Russell is preceded in death by his parents, C.J. and Omega Johnson; brother, Gene Johnson; and his grandparents. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will be at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at Dimmitt Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Saturday evening, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow.
