Ruby Lea Stevens, age 86, of Garland, Texas, passed away on March 7, 2015. She was born on March 17, 1928 in Cooper, Texas, to Leroy and Ocie Valentine (Wood) Ballew. Ruby worked for 5-6 years at the Resistol Hat Factory, but was a homemaker for the most of her life. She was a big collector.
She is survived by her children, Kibby Smith of Royce City, Texas, Bobby Don Stevens and wife Elba of Payne Springs, Texas, Stephen Lynn Stevens of Caddo Mills, Texas, Terry Dan Stevens of Garland, Texas, Gary Stevens and wife Janice of Garland, Texas; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Bobby Ballew and wife Genita of Wylie, Texas.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Ocie Ballew; husband, L. J. Stevens; son, Michael W. Stevens; son-in-law, Joe Smith, Sr.; granddaughter, Patricia Smith; brother, Jimmy Ballew; sister, Rita Turner;
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2015 at Shiloh Worship Center, 2204 South Shiloh Road, Garland, Texas. Interment will follow at Wylie Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
