Ruby Viola Kennedy, age 78, of La Rue, Texas, passed away September 25, 2014. She was born July 29, 1936 in Eagletown, Oklahoma, to Basil Calvin and Ollie Vetree (Short) White. On August 14, 1954, Ruby married Gearl Kennedy in Hugo, Oklahoma. She grew up in Eagletown and Broken Bow where she attended school. Ruby worked for Haggar Slacks, Boothe Inc. and also, in child care. She enjoyed knitting, word search puzzles and was an avid reader. Ruby loved children.
She is survived by her husband Gearl Kennedy of La Rue, Texas; children, Sharon Gassoway and husband Randall of Waco, Texas, Kathy Rogers and husband Don of Lake Kiowa, Texas, Randy Kennedy and wife Pam of La Rue, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brother, Clifford White of Alaska; sisters, Betty Sue Goodwill of McKinney, Texas and Faye White of Arkansas.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark Anthony Kennedy; brothers, Frank White, Delano White, Edward White and Eugene White; sister, Martha White.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 29, 2014 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
