Roy Gene Gray, 76, passed away on June 24, 2006, at his home in New Hope, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 15, 1929 to Mary Frances (Dillehay) and John Gray at his grandmother’s home in Parker, Texas. He was a member of Corinth Presbyterian Church in Parker as a young man and loved the church where his parents were married. He married Connie Sue Hill on July 24th, 1955 at her parents home in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The two celebrated their 50th anniversary last year. Roy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Roy retired at age 55 from Western Electric, where he worked as an installer for over 33 years. He spent his free time raising cattle and attending to other duties at his farm in New Hope. He also was involved in the beginning of the Town of New Hope and helped obtain the Town Hall. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Connie Hill Gray; daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Jeff Herbst of New Hope; two cherished granddaughters, Alexandria and Lauren Herbst, also of New Hope; sister and brother-in-law Thelma and Sid Brown, of Abbot, Texas, nephews John and David Brown, of Watauga and Fort Worth, Texas; great-niece Jennifer Brown; great-nephew Colton Brown; and many wonderful friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Sidney Charles Brown. Visitation will be held in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in McKinney, on Monday, June 26th at 11:00 a.m., directly followed by a memorial service at noon. The Reverend Gary Herbst will perform the services. Family and friends are invited to come to his daughters home, in New Hope, after the service to further visit with the family. Pallbearers are: John Brown, David Brown, Colton Brown, David Craft, Troy Lindsey, Tim Love and Clint Sanner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
